Jim Vangilder, Weatherford, Tex., doubled down on Saturday, the third day of NCHA Futurity Amateur/Unlimited Amateur go-round competition, with matching high scores of 218 points in the Unlimited Amateur division.  Vangilder, an NCHA Non-Pro Hall of Fame inductee and the NCHA earner of $1,421,896, was showing the Metallic Cat-sired fillies Nu Metallic Silk and Shiny Aristocrat.

Nu Metallic Silk, out of Nu I Wood LTE $405,302, is a half- or three-quarter sister to earners of $1,052,801, including Special Nu Baby LTE $481,197 and Special Nu Kitty LTE $301,268. Shiny Aristocrat is out of Purdy Aristocrat LTE $100,403 and half-sister to earners of over $700,000.

Vangilder, who placed 13th in the 2001 NCHA Futurity Amateur Finals on Merada Clone LTE $421,952, was also the 2005 NCHA Futurity reserve champion aboard Mr Tele San LTE $105,219, by Lenas Telesis. Last year, Vangilder won the NCHA Futurity Non-Pro Senior division, as well as the Non-Pro Senior Limited division, showing Justa Lil Brownsugar LTE $80,383, by Kit Kat Sugar. 

Last year, Vangilder also won the NCHA Derby Non-Pro Limited with Take It Eazee LTE $100,037, and the NCHA Super Stakes Classic Amateur on Smooth Sailing Cat LTE $129,020.
