C Spot Betty and Sherrerd win the 5/6 Open $200,000 2-Year Rollback

Andy Sherrerd and C Spot Betty claim the spotlight

Andy Sherrerd, who scored 225 points for a definitive win on C Spot Betty in the go-round, came back on Friday, February 26, to score 227 points and win the 12-horse Arbuckle Mountain 5/6 Open $200,000 2-Year Rollback finals.

Andy Sherrerd and the 6-year-old C Spot Cut daughter C Spot Betty LTE $45,045, owned by Mark and Eva Gardiner, Ashland, Kan., were 2020 Open 5/6- year-old finalists in the Arbuckle Mountain Futurity, as well as in the Cattlemen’s Derby. C Spot Betty is the first money earner out of Bet On The Cat, by Bet On Me 495. Bet On The Cat is a half-sister to Divas On Time LTE $179,620, by One Time Pepto.

Sherrerd, the NCHA Hall of Fame earner of $1.1 million, was co-reserve champion of the 2016 Arbuckle Mountain Open Limited riding Dualcious LTE $56,331 sired by Halreycious and owned by Randall Bass.

Dirk Blakesley, riding Dulces Smart Rey LTE $20,349 for Marvin Moser, Leon, Kan., scored 223 points for the reserve championship. Bred by John McGraw, Marshall, Mo., and sired by Dual Smart Rey, Dulces Smart Rey is out of Little Sandia Dulce, an unshown daughter of Smart Little Lena and a half-sister to 1993 NCHA Open Horse of the Year Little Badger Dulce LTE $657,276, by Peppy San Badger. Dirk Blakesley, the NCHA Hall of Fame earner of over $1.5 million, was an NCHA Futurity Open finalist last year on Nitreyious LTE $79,939, by Metallic Cat, and in 2019 on Kual Kat LTE $161,149, by High Brow Cat.

The Arbuckle Mountain Futurity concluded on Sunday, February 28.
