4YO Int. Non-Pro Finals

Stuart Bozeman and Check Yer Metal win the 4YO Int. Non-Pro with 220

Stuart Bozeman wins 4-Year-Old Intermediate Non-Pro championship

Last week, Stuart Bozeman, Idalou, Tex., showed Check Yer Metal LTE $53,197 to tie for ninth in the NCHA Kit Kat Sugar Super Stakes 4-Year-Old Intermediate Open Finals, and on Sunday, April 4, bounced back for a 220-point win, worth $9,392, riding his homebred Metallic Cat son in the Intermediate Non-Pro Finals.

Kadie Hermes, Cotulla, Tex., claimed the Intermediate Non-Pro reserve championship and $9,052 with 218 points on Badaboomsmall LTE $75,545, while Verlie Doing, Jacksboro, Tex., and Lance Cooper, Weatherford, Tex., tied for third with 217.5 points, and each earned $8,540 riding Reydneck Woman LTE $15,558 and Versace On Da Floor LTE $33,619, respectively.

Although this is the first NCHA Super Stakes win for Bozeman, the NCHA earner of $256,455 won the 2016 NCHA Classic Challenge Non-Pro riding Check Yer Metal’s dam, Checkers Live Oak LTE $177,737, by Im Countin Checks.

Earlier this year, Bozeman showed Check Yer Metal as reserve champion of the Arbuckle Mountain Non-Pro and placed fourth in the Abilene Spectacular Non-Pro. The pair also qualified for the 4-Year-Old Open Semi-Finals, to be held on Monday, April 12.

Kadie Hermes, the NCHA earner of $226,554, placed in both the 2018 NCHA Super Stakes 4-Year-Old Amateur Unlimited and 5/6 Amateur Unlimited finals riding Kandy Crush LTE $37,158, by Kit Kat Sugar, and Arts In Style LTE $46,887, by WR This Cats Smart, respectively.

Owned by Kadie’s parents, Curtis and Brenda Weeks, Cotulla, Tex., Badaboomsmall placed seventh in the 2020 NCHA Futurity under Clay Johnson. Bred by Kim Ezell, the Metallic Cat daughter is out of Reyboomsmall LTE $96,138, a full sister by Dual Rey, to Im Reydioactive LTE $173,591.

Verlie Doing, the NCHA earner of $60,661, was a 2019 NCHA Super Stakes 4-Year-Old Limited Non-Pro finalist on Piccirillo LTE $14,367, by Playgun. Reydneck Woman, by Reyzin The Cash, bred by Skip and Elizabeth Queen, is a half-sister to Redneck Creyzy $148,192, winner of the 2017 NCHA Futurity Amateur Unlimited and 2018 NCHA Super Stakes Amateur Unlimited with Rocky Davis.

Last year, Verlie Doing won the Southern Futurity 4-Year-Old Non-Pro showing Candy Man LTE $76,604, by Kit Kat Sugar.

Lance Cooper, the NCHA earner of $311,059, won both the 2018 NCHA Super Stakes Open Limited and Non-Pro Limited riding the High Brow CD daughter Zen And Tonic LTE $133,819, who he also showed to win the NCHA Futurity Non-Pro Limited, as well as a Non-Pro finalist.

Versace On Da Floor, an Im Countin Checks daughter, was bred by Rose Valley Ranch out of the Smooth As A Cat daughter Holly Is Smooth LTE $225,782, dam of earners of $398,434, including Hesa Money Maker LTE $133,942 and Yall Count Me In LTE $95,964, both by Im Countin Checks.

Earlier this year Cooper and Versace On Da Floor collected first place earnings in the Cattlemen’s Non-Pro Limited and Non-Pro Novice, placed third in the Non-Pro finals, and won the Arbuckle Mountain Open Limited.

The 2021 NCHA Kit Kat Sugar Super Stakes continues through Saturday, April 17.
