Shes Reyl Tipsy and Rapp and Rockin KW and Davis tie for the win with 221

Phil Rapp set the pace with 221 points on Shes Reyl Tipsy, the second horse to the herd in the 11-horse finals of the NCHA Kit Kat Sugar Super Stakes 6/7 Intermediate Open, on Saturday, April 3. But Bear Davis, riding Rockin KW last in the field, held ground with 221 points to tie Rapp for the championship.

Shes Reyl Tipsy LTE $48,619, sired by Dual Smart Rey and owned by Ron Woodhouse, Ione, Calif., and Rockin KW LTE $199,936, sired by Rockin W and owned by Whit and Kim Davis, Millsap, Tex., each earned $7,068, while Hershay Kiss LTE $67,025, sired by Metallic Cat and owned by Lori Gale, Conway, S.C., and also shown by Rapp, placed third with 217.5 points, for $6,425.

Bear Davis, the NCHA earner of $209,238, won the 2016 NCHA Super Stakes 4-Year-Old Amateur Unlimited riding Red Solo Catt LTE $168,991, by Metallic Cat. Phil Rapp the NCHA Open and Non-Pro Hall of Fame earner of over $9.2 million, has won five 4-Year-Old NCHA Super Stakes championships, including the 1991 Non-Pro on Playboys Ruby LTE $262,441, by Freckles Playboy, as well as the 2015 Open, his most recent, as co-champion on Dont Stopp Believin LTE $457,714, by Dual Rey.

6/7 Limited Open

Ben Royal, the NCHA earner of $53,310, won the non-working 6/7 Limited Open and $5,524 with 220 go-round points on This Bentleys Hot LTE $57,680, by Hottish. The 7-year-old gelding, owned by Kerinne Edgar, Wilton, Calif., and bred by Jeff Barnes, won the 2019 NCHA Super Stakes Open Limited Classic under Brent Erickson.

Bear Davis and Rockin KW also tied Justin Wright and 7-year-old Little Redd Corvette LTE $73,053, by Metallic Cat, for second-place earnings of $3,867 in the 6/7 Limited Open class.

The 2021 NCHA Kit Kat Sugar Super Stakes continues through Saturday, April 17.
