2020 Mary Kingsbury Award
DENNIS LEVERING SELECTED AS THE 2020 MARY KINGSBURY AMATEUR SPORTSMANSHIP AWARD RECIPIENT
The NCHA would like to congratulate Dennis Levering on being selected as the 2020 recipient of the Mary Kingsbury Amateur Sportsmanship Award.
Each year, the Mary Kingsbury Amateur Sportsmanship Award is presented to an active NCHA amateur who is dedicated to the sport of cutting, in good standing with NCHA, exhibits good sportsmanship, fairness, and a high moral character both in and out of the arena.
“Dennis, to me, is the absolute definition of what an award like this is about,” said Sean Flynn, one of the many members who nominated Levering for the award. “He is a great guy, a cheerleader, and an encourager for everyone in the Amateur class.”
Levering has been an NCHA member since 1981 and currently resides in Cottontown, Tennessee. An active competitor in both weekend and limited age events alike, Levering holds his Amateur/Non-Pro card and competes in classes such as the Senior Amateur, Senior Limited Non-Pro, and Unlimited Amateur.
“I feel extremely lucky to be even thought about as that,” Levering said. “I should be giving the award to NCHA because NCHA has allowed me to establish a tremendous amount of wonderful friends and have a great time through the years going to those shows from the weekend shows right on through to the futurity. The whole group has been nothing but unbelievably nice to me, so I just feel blessed. A huge amount of them I feel like are really just like family to me. I just feel pretty lucky, and I am lucky.”
Levering’s name will be added to the Mary Kingsbury Amateur Sportsmanship Award plaque at the NCHA office, and he will be presented with a bronze trophy sponsored by the Lackey Family during the upcoming 2020 NCHA North Texas Chevy Dealers World Championship Futurity presented by Great American Insurance.
