Overtheboonforyou and Side Chic tied for the Open Futurity win

From start to finish: Overtheboonforyou and Side Chic in Cotton Stakes Open Futurity 

 

Overtheboonforyou, shown by Sean Flynn, and Side Chic, ridden by Lloyd Cox, tied with 218 points for the championship of the 3-year-old Cotton Stakes Open Futurity in West Monroe, La., on Thursday, September 10.

Generator shown by Rodrigo Taboga, and JB Playful Cat with Craig Thompson, tied with 217.5, the second-highest score from the 10-horse finals. Overtheboonforyou and Side Chic each earned $9,615, while Generator and JB Playful Cat each earned $5,608.

Flynn and Overtheboonforyou had come to Jackson after a seventh-place in the West Texas Futurity. They won the first go-round of The Cotton Stakes Futurity with 223 points (218.5 in second go-round) and drew first to work in the finals. Cox and Side Chic, who had qualified for the Cotton Stakes Futurity with a pair of 217s, drew last in the finals. Cox also scored 213.5 points to place eighth in the finals on Blacks My Style, owned by Kathleen Moore, Madill Okla.

Owned by Joe & Amanda Wood, Heber Springs, Ark., Overtheboonforyou LTE $14,115, by Once In A Blu Boon, was bred by Pine Island Ranch, Deridder, La., out of the High Brow Cat daughter Toni The Tigress LTE $96,059, dam of three earners of $25,550.

Sean Flynn is the NCHA Hall of Fame earner of $2,766,930.

Side Chic LTE $22,615, by Smooth Talkin Style, came to the Cotton Stakes after claiming the reserve championship of the West Texas Futurity. She is owned by Pat Taylor of Pilot Point, Tex., and was bred by Holmes & Hill out of the High Brow Cat daughter Cat Mom Do LTE $199,423, the dam of seven earners of $165,994, including Very Reytro LTE $68,769 and Oreyginal Gangsta LTE $62,932.

Lloyd Cox is the NCHA Hall of Fame all-time leading money earner of $9,533,163.

Generator LTE $20,863, by High Brow Cat, out of the Docs Stylish Oak daughter Stylish And Foxie LTE $303,736, is owned by Terry Green of Weatherford, Tex., and was bred by Glenn and Debbie Drake, Napa, Calif. Stylish And Foxie has produced 10 earners of $800,130, including Peptos Stylish Miss LTE $296,598, Miss Stylish Pepto LTE $216,005, and Eyez On Me LTE $136,938.

Rodrigo Taboga is the NCHA earner of $469,139

Owned by David Puryear, Perry, Ga., JB Playful Cat LTE $6,691, by High Brow Cat, out of the Smart Lil Richochet daughter Playful Ricochet LTE $84,182, is the dam of 10 NCHA earners of $139,254, including Playful Highbrow CD LTE $55,623.

Craig Thompson is the NCHA Hall of Fame earner of $2,915,820.

The 2020 Cotton Stakes continues through Sept. 13.
