NCHA Welcomes Trefethen
TREFETHEN FAMILY VINEYARDS NAMED OFFICIAL WINE OF THE NCHA
The National Cutting Horse Association (NCHA) is proud to welcome Trefethen Family Vineyards as our newest sponsor and the Official Wine of the NCHA.
Trefethen began in the late 1960s as a family business in Napa, California at a time when there were fewer than 25 wineries in the entire Napa Valley. Remarkably, Trefethen has the designation of being the only winery in the United States over the age of 45 that has solely used the grapes they grow to make their wine. Their entire team shares a time-honored dedication for producing the finest estate-grown wines possible.
With a passion for both fine wines and cutting horses, this partnership was a natural pairing for Trefethen and NCHA. “When I first started cutting there were not many cowboys drinking wine. Now, there are a lot and I’d like to think Trefethen wine has had something to do with that,” Janet Trefethen, co-founder of the winery stated.
With earnings around a half a million, Janet has been an active NCHA member since 1992. She recalls special family experiences going down the road with her now grown children, Hailey and Lorenzo. Lorenzo had the honor of winning the Celebrity Cutting at the Futurity years ago when he was teamed up with Buster Welch and Tanya Tucker. Janet takes pride not only in her family and wines, but in her horses and their accomplishments.
“We are fortunate to work with sponsors that share a love of the sport, and Trefethen is no different,” said Jay Winborn, Executive Director, National Cutting Horse Association. “I am looking forward to a long, successful partnership between Trefethen and NCHA.”
