NCHA KIT KAT SUGAR SUPER STAKES IS CANCELED

FORT WORTH – The National Cutting Horse Association (NCHA) has made the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 NCHA Kit Kat Sugar Super Stakes.

“This decision did not come lightly,” Jay Winborn, NCHA Executive Director, said. “As we evaluated proposed dates to reschedule the show [NCHA Super Stakes], we did not have the option to properly accommodate the length of the show without impacting the welfare of the horses and competitors.”

As the Stallion Foal Program is a unique, standalone program that is not tied to a specific show, the NCHA is continuing to evaluate options to award the $800,000 in added money and awards from the Stallion Foal program within this year.

The NCHA will issue paper-check refunds for 100 percent of NCHA Kit Kat Sugar Super Stakes entries, penalties and tickets, to original payees as a result of canceling the event. Checks will be mailed in the following 10 to 12 business days.

The 2020 NCHA Metallic Cat Summer Cutting Spectacular is scheduled for July 7 through August 1 and will run on the same leveled schedule that was originally formatted for the 2020 NCHA Kit Kat Sugar Super Stakes. A tentative version of the schedule will be released next week. Entry for the 2020 NCHA Metallic Cat Summer Cutting Spectacular will now be a single payment due on June 1.

Additionally, the 3rd payment for the NCHA Futurity has been delayed in an effort to assist our owners and exhibitors.  The 3rd payment previously due on May 1, will now need to be postmarked by June 15th.

“We remain optimistic that we will be able to host the upcoming NCHA Convention and the NCHA Western National Championships,” Ron Pietrafeso, NCHA President, said. “We know that this has been a challenging time for all of us, and we can’t wait to see you back in the cutting pen soon.”

NCHA will continue to update members as more details become available. Be sure to visit nchacutting.com for more information regarding upcoming events and the latest news.
