Countin Hot Checks counts among leaders with 222 points

Countin Hot Checks, bred and owned by Jamie Hill, Bastrop, Tex., and shown by Jaime Snider, scored 222 points on Sunday to share the current rank of third-highest qualifier, on the fourth of five days of Open first go-round competition. The second go-round begins on Tuesday.

Tin Man, shown by Zeb Corvin for Stella Swanson, Midland, Tex., and Bohemiann Rhapsody, with Michael Cooper for Rose Valley Ranch, earned 221.5 points, Sunday’s second-highest score. Jae Zee under Tim Smith for Kevin and Sydney Knight of Weatherford, Tex., posted 221, as did Desires One And Only, shown by Brandon Westfall, as the last horse, in the last set of the day. 

Metallic Rey Mink with 225 points on Friday under Gary Bellenfant, is the go-round leader, while Sly Criminal, shown by  Tatum Rice on Thursday, ranks second with 223 points. Calientee with R.L. Chartier, Pipe Bomb Dream shown by Geoffrey Sheehan, and Oreyginal Gansta with Ascencion Banuelos had all earned 222 points earlier in the week.

Countin Hot Checks, sired by Hottish, is the first performer out of Cat Countin Checks LTE $168,987, by Im Countin Checks.  Jamie Hill showed Cat Countin Checks in Non-Pro limited age events, while Matt Gaines showed the mare in Open competition.

Tin Man, sired by Metallic Cat and bred by Linda Holmes, is a full brother to Melting Snow LTE $101,643 and four other money earners. His dam, Nurse Moss, by Dual Pep, is a full sister to Dual Rey, cutting’s #3 leading sire with over $39 million in offspring earnings.

Zeb Corbin also showed One Time Pepto daughter Rosa Del Pepto for Tin Man’s owner Stella Swanson, to mark 220 points, on Friday.

Bohemiann Rhapsody was bred by Rocking L Cutting Horses out of Sly Playgirl LTE $332,135, by That Sly Cat. The red roan Metallic Cat son is a three-quarter brother to 5-year-old Sly Pepto Girl LTE $104,137, as well as four other money earners.

Jae Zee, sired by Boon Too Suen, was bred by his owners, Kevin and Sydney Knight and is a half-brother to 2018 NCHA Futurity Open champion Crey Zee LTE $300,801, also bred and owned by the Knights. Zee Dualy, dam of Crey Zee and Jae Zee, is a leading producer of 16 NCHA money earners of $1,326,273, including Smooth Asa Zee LTE $616,978, by Smooth As A Cat.

Desires One And Only, sired by One Time Pepto, was bred by Rockin 5 Ranch and is owned by Russ and Janet Westfall, Granbury, Tex. He is out of Desire Some Freckles, a leading producer of 29 money earners with average earnings of $51,218. Ireydescent, out of the Desire Some Freckles daughter Desires Katrina LTE $128,812, scored 220 points in Sunday’s first set of cattle for her owner and breeder, Double Dove Ranch, Fort Worth, Tex.
