Fracker Brown first round redux

NCHA Futurity Open finalist Fracker Brown, shown by Chris Johnsrud for Schmitz and Brown, Gainesville, Tex., scored 222 points on Saturday, to top the first go-round of the Abilene Spectacular Open 4-Year-Old Futurity. Ms Baby Cakes was second with 220 points under Lloyd Cox for Barker Ranch Cutting Horses, Madill, Okla. Maggic Mike, owned and shown by Salvador Cabral, Jacksboro, Tex., and Reycan In The Cash, shown by Lloyd Cox for Pat and Lisa Taylor, Pilot Point, Tex., tied at third with 218.5 points; 56 horses with 212 points or higher advanced to the second go-round, scheduled for Monday, January 7.
Fracker Brown $37,343 and Johnsrud won the first go-round of the NCHA Futurity with 223 points and posted the top cumulative go-round score of 440 points. Sired by Smooth As A Cat and bred by David Brown out of Jitters Brown, Fracker Brown is a three-quarter brother to Whiskeynadirtyglass $183,978 and Whiskey Cat $81,011. Jitters Brown’s second dam is Doc’s Serendipity, who was ridden by Joe Heim to place second to Peppy San Badger in the 1977 NCHA Futurity.
Ms Baby Cakes $34,762, an NCHA Futurity Open finalist with Cox, scored 222 points in the first go-round of that event and posted 437.5 points, the third highest cumulative average. Sired by Metallic Cat, Ms Baby Cakes is out of Special Nu Baby $481,197, the 2015 NCHA Open World Champion and 2016 NCHA Open Horse of the Year. Her three-quarter brother, Smooth Nu Cat $193,816, was an NCHA Futurity and NCHA Super Stakes Open finalist under Matt Gaines.
Maggic Mike $49,154 and Salvador Cabral placed ninth in the NCHA Futurity Open and also earned money as Open Limited finalists. Sired by Metallic Cat and out of Sweet Abra, dam of earners of over $1.2 million, Maggic Mike is a full brother to Metallic Rebel $411,837, NCHA Open Horse of the Year in 2017, as well as to four other earners of $100,000 or more.
Maggic Mike also has two 2015 full siblings: Warlock $70,479, an NCHA Futurity Open finalist with Beau Galyean, and The Dewd $17,160, an NCHA Futurity Open Limited finalist and Open semi-finalist with Rodrigo Taboga.
Reycan In The Cash $22,435 was reserve champion of the NCHA Futurity Open Limited, as well as an Open semi-finalist with Greg Wright. Sired by Dual Rey, Reycan In The Cash, out of Cancan Kitty, by High Brow Cat, is a full brother to Cancan Reyvolution $176,682 and Kitty Can Dual $108,297.
