NCHA
World Finals
Cutters
in each of 11 classes, including junior and
senior youth, share the glory and the
opportunity of the NCHA World Finals.
The
top 50 money earners in each class at the
end of the point year are invited to
participate in the NCHA World Finals in Amarillo, Texas.
Both
the junior and senior youth classes earn
points in two go-rounds, plus points awarded
in the working finals. The “World Champion” in
each class is determined by combined earnings
throughout the point year, plus points won in the World Finals show.
Total points earned at the World Finals event
determine the “Show Champion” for each class.

Eastern National Championships
The top ten participants in each affiliate and
in each area qualify to compete in the Eastern
National Championships
held in Jackson, Mississippi during the month
of March each year. All youth finalists
receive awards and the Junior and
Senior Champions and Reserve Champions receive
scholarships. During the National
Championships, youth members
may also participate in team cutting contests,
NYCHA business meetings and pizza parties.

Western National Championships
The top ten participants in each affiliate and
in each area qualify to compete in the Western
National Championships held in Ogden, Utah at the end of April each
year. All youth finalists receive awards and
the Junior and Senior Champions and Reserve Champions receive scholarships.
During the Western National Championships,
youth members may also participate in team cutting contests, NYCHA
business meetings, ice-skating and pizza
parties.

Convention and Memorial Scholarship Cutting
Each summer the NYCHA holds its Annual Youth
Convention and the John Roberts & Cole McGee Memorial scholarship
cutting in Fort
Worth, Texas.
During the
four-day event, youth members conduct business
meetings, elect officers,
participate in a
family fun night
and attend
educational workshops in addition to competing
in the junior or senior youth
scholarship cutting. The scholarship
cuttings are the largest youth cutting of the
year and more than
$28,000 in
scholarships
are awarded to both Junior and
Senior finalists. The annual youth awards
banquet is held in
conjunction
with the
convention and cutting to recognize
members’ achievements throughout the year. The
entry
deadline is June 12, 2006
and cost to enter in the junior or senior
youth class is only $75.

NCHA
Approved Weekend Shows
Almost all of the 125 NCHA
affiliates from across the United States
and Canada offer youth classes as part of
their regularly scheduled shows. Many shows offer
both a Senior Youth and a Junior Youth class.
Each of the 125 NCHA affiliates and 25 NCHA areas recognize their
top 10 youth at the year-end. Youth
competitions are only held on the weekend during the normal school year.

Essay Contest
(entries
due June 1, 2006)
This
contest is open to all NYCHA members. Great prizes will be
awarded to the top three entries in each age category and the best overall entry will receive a $500 scholarship from NYCHA. A new essay topic is chosen
each year and the deadline is always June 1 each year.
You can even earn LEAP points by submitting
an entry!

Photo Contest
(entries due June 1, 2006)
This
contest is open to all NYCHA members. Great prizes will be
awarded to the top three entries in each age category and the best overall entry will receive a $500 scholarship from NYCHA. A new photo category is chosen each year and the deadline is always June 1 each year.
