CARA BARRY
Cara Barry is the daughter of Tim and Sue Barry from Byron, Illinois. 

During her youth career which spanned 10 years, Cara was in the area top ten youth standings all ten years and was only 11 years old the first time she became the area champion.  She went on to be the area champion 4 more years and was reserve champion two other years. Cara competed at the Eastern National Championships 6 consecutive years and was a finalist there in 1998, 1999, and 2000. One of her most memorable wins was the 1992 Summer Spectacular Jr. Reserve Champion aboard Docs Lone Oak when she was only11 years old.

Cara has served as a director of NYCHA for area 12, worked on numerous committees and achieved her bronze LEAP award.

CODY FAILS

Cody Fails is the son of Chuck and Linda Fails of Sulphur Springs, Texas. His number one fan is his grandfather, Mr. Bill Fails. Mr. Bill got Cody started in cutting in 1994 when Cody was 12 years old.  For the next 7 years, Cody wore out MC Lena Glow, the only cutting horse he would own as a youth. That year in 1994, Cody placed in the top ten of area 24, and became the Reserve Champion youth of area 24 in 1995, then became the Youth Champion in 1996, 1997, and 1998. In 1999 and 2000 he managed top ten finishes.  Shortly after, Cody joined the US Team Roping Association.  In 2000 Cody qualified for the State High School Rodeo Finals in both cutting and roping. He went on to compete in the National High School Rodeo Finals.  Cody also competed 4 years at the NCHA Eastern National Championships making the finals in 1999.

Cody served the NYCHA actively, being the area 24 Director for 4 years and served two terms as Vice President.  He achieved his Gold Leap Award.

COURTNEY FORD

Courtney Ford is the daughter of Rick and Becky Ford of Weatherford, Texas. Courtney was a dominant youth in area 9 North Texas during her 7-year career. She placed in the top ten youth standings for 6 years beginning at age 11 and was the area 9 Reserve Youth Champion at age 12. Courtney acquired, two times each, the title of North Texas CHA Junior Youth Champion and Senior Youth Champion. She was also 1995 West Central Texas CHA Reserve Youth Champion, 1998 Texas High School Rodeo Association State Champion, and the 1999 Texas High School Rodeo Reserve Champion. Courtney was a Summer Scholarship Finalist three years beginning at age 12.

Courtney served the NYCHA as area 9 Director for 4 years and achieved her initial LEAP award.

LEANN GANN

Leann Gann is the daughter of Jerry and Patti Gann of Leighton, Alabama.   She appeared in the Area 22 top Ten standings for 11 years, beginning when she was only 9 years old. She was the area 22 Youth Champion for 5 years beginning at age 12 and managed a NCHA Youth World Top Ten Title both in 1995 and 1999. Leann also achieved status as a multiple-time Eastern National Championship youth finalist in 1996, 1997, 1999 & 2000. She was a Summer Spectacular Senior Youth Finalist in 1997 & 1998.

Leann has served the NYCHA since its’ inception as Director of area 22 for 8 years.  She served two terms as President. Leann is one of only 4 people to reach the Hall of Fame level of the LEAP program.  She follows her two brothers, Chad and Todd into the Youth Hall Of Fame.

BRANDON HARRIS

Brandon Harris may have had a short youth career only competing 4 years but he rose to the top of the field and was active in every aspect of youth cutting. He was a senior youth finalist at the 1995 Summer Scholarship show his very first year of competition. Inspired, he hauled the very next year, winning not only the area 14 Youth Championship but was crowned the prestigious 1996 Youth World Champion riding SR Athena Lynx and Cash & Colonel.  Once again in 1997 he made the Youth World Top Ten and was area 14 Reserve Champion.  Brandon was a force everywhere he went competing against the best.. He was a two-time senior youth finalist in Jackson. 

Brandon was active in the NYCHA, attending numerous conventions, clinics, and educational activities. He rose to the Silver LEAP award level. Brandon continues to be active in the cutting arena.  

ROIANNA HAWKINS

Roianna Hawkins is the daughter of Spunky and Vicki Hawkins of Merigold, Mississippi.   attended the University of Mississippi majoring in psychology and theatre.

During her career in youth, Roianna acquired a place in the NCHA Youth World Top Ten 3 consecutive years in 1996, 1997, & 1998.  She of course was in the area 14 top ten the same 3 years, winning the Area 14 Reserve Youth Championship. The same 3 years she was a Eastern National Championship Senior Finalist and the 1997 National Championships Senior Youth Champion aboard SR Athena Lynx.

Roianna was an area 14 NYCHA Director during her youth career and achieved the Bronze level of LEAP. She was the recipient of the Todd Drummond Memorial Award as well as the Trey Shelton Memorial Scholarship.

ANDREW SLIGH

Andrew Sligh is son of Terry and Viva Sligh of Hueytown, Alabama.. Andrew competed in area 22 youth for 10 years.  He was in the area top ten youth standings for 9 consecutive years.  He reigned as Youth Champion in 1997 and was the area’s Reserve Champion in 1995 and 1998. Andrew traveled to Jackson most of those years and was a junior finalist in 1993 & 1994 and a senior finalist in 1997, 1998, and 2000.  He was a Summer Scholarship Junior finalist in 1992 and a Senior Scholarship Finalist in 1998 & 1999.

Andrew was very active in NYCHA, serving area 22 as a director.  He achieved his Gold Level of LEAP.

JOSH WELLS

Josh is the son of Gaylon and Sunny Wells of Edgerton, Missouri. Josh was one of the dominant youths of area 8 over the last decade.  He has been in the Area 8 Top Ten Standings for 7 years beginning in 1993 and claimed the Area Youth Reserve Champion Title in 1998. He was an Eastern National Championships Senior Finalist in 1999 and that same year was a Summer Scholarship Senior Finalist aboard Irish Ote. Josh received the Todd Drummond Memorial Award in 1999.

Josh was active in NYCHA and served area 8 as a director.  He achieved his Bronze award in LEAP.

TREY WILSON

Trey Wilson is the son of David and Louann Wilson of Rosenburg, Texas. During his youth career, he was in the area 10 Youth Top Ten standings for 9 consecutive years and earned the Youth Championship in 1996 and again in 1999.  He was in the NCHA Youth World Top Ten in 1996 and 1997. Youth Scholarship cuttings could be Trey’s specialty.  He won 4 Youth Championship Titles.  He was the 1995 Eastern National Championships Senior Youth Champion and that same year, he won the Summer Scholarship Senior Championship, both on Oakanitos Last. That made him a three time Summer Scholarship Senior Champion. He won in 1997 on Dox Time & Again, and also in 1998 on So Neat Alena. He was a Reserve Champion and a Champion at the Houston Livestock Scholarship Cutting. In 2000, he was the area 10 $10,000 Novice/Non-pro Champion.

Trey served NYCHA in the highest office, serving as its President in 1999 following 6 years as a director for area 10. Trey is one of only 4 individuals to reach the Platinum level of the LEAP program.
