NYCHA announces 2003 Walton Family Foundation Scholarship
recipients
Twenty $5,000 scholarships
awarded to top NYCHA members
(
In its second year, the Walton Family Foundation Scholarship awarded $5,000 to each of the top 20 applicants. To have been eligible for the scholarships, applicants must be a full-time student in a college, university or trade school beginning in the fall semester, have been a member of NYCHA and have participated in the Levels of Excellence Award Program (LEAP). Winners were selected based on participation in NYCHA, academic achievement, school, church or community activities and financial need.
“This
year’s group of applicants was outstanding,” said NCHA Youth Coordinator,
Danette McGuire. “The youth program is very fortunate to have the generous
support of NCHA members who believe in our youth members and want to see them
succeed. We are grateful to the Walton Family Foundation for their continued
support of our scholarship program.”
In alphabetical order, the National Youth Cutting Horse Association and its parent organization, the National Cutting Horse Association, are proud to present the 2003 Walton Family Foundation Scholarship recipients.

The Walton Family Foundation supports these scholarships
through the NCHA Charities Foundation. The Walton scholarship program is
specifically designed so that all NYCHA members who are graduating seniors are
eligible to apply. Special consideration is given to applicants who might not
otherwise be able to attend college without outside financial backing. Any
youth NCHA member who is an active cutter at the local level and a high school
senior is encouraged to apply. Next year’s deadline is June 1, and information
is always available.
The National Youth Cutting Horse Association is the youth organization of the National Cutting Horse Association. Youth members of the NYCHA are challenged to develop their skills as young cutting horse competitors, to learn fair play and sportsmanship, to develop leadership skills and to learn discipline and responsibility in caring for their horse and themselves. They also gain experience working and developing relationships with NCHA adult leaders in an effort to better prepare them for their roles as adults in the NCHA.
To learn more about becoming a member of the NCHA, the NYCHA, or about other scholarship opportunities available to NYCHA members, please contact Danette McGuire, Youth Coordinator, at 817-244-6188 or email youth@nchacutting.com.
