Limited Non-Professional Finals

It was Skip Queen’s night. It didn’t matter that the first horse in the finals rode out of the herd and scored a 0. It didn’t matter that the 4th horse worked before a score of 210 was even marked, or that by the time he showed deep in the cutting, the highest marking score was 214.

Working 8th in the 10-horse limited non-professional finals, Queen found 3 exceptional cows for TYS Twister DG Queen. Riding deep into the herd, he quickly brought out a Charolais willing to test TYS Twister DG cutting expertise. Working only a short time, Queen returned to the herd to cut his 2nd cow with a minute of cutting time left, and then finished the run with 3rd cow that challenged TYS Twister DG Queen in the middle of the arena. The run allowed him to ride away with a championship earning score of 219, a rousing 5 points ahead of his nearest competitor.

Meredith McCullar riding Shorty Quichic won the reserve championship with a score of 214.The Limited Non professional division is a cutting within the non professional go rounds, and a non pro must have earned less than $100,000 to participate. The 49 competitors were after a final purse of $22,320. Queen took home a first place check for $3,404 while McCullar pocked $3,243 for his 2nd place run.
