Horse Rides to Stylish Victory at NCHA Super Stakes Classic

Fort Worth, Texas (April 5, 2000)- Cutting horse trainer Todd Bimat riding Style O Bar proved victorious April 5th at the National Cutting Horse Association Super Stakes Classic, an event for 5- and 6-year-old cutting horses.

During the final round of competition at Will Rogers Memorial Center in Fort Worth, Texas, Bimat, a Orlan, California resident, and Style O Bar turned in a score of 223.5 only to be challenged by Greg Welch of Weatherford riding Haidas Jan who also turned in a 223.5.

Subsequently the two teams of horse and riders competed in a work-off with Bimat and Style O Bar scoring a 220 while Welch and Haidas Jan lost a cow and rode out of the herd before working time expired for a score of zero.

However, both sets of owners received a check for $39,464 for champion as well as reserve champion in addition to an official NCHA Jim Reno Bronze, Gist Buckle, Cowboy Tack hand-woven saddle blanket, Stetson Hat and Professional's Choice products.

Style O Bar is a 5-year-old mare owned by Debbie and T.J. Day of Reno, Nevada. The mare by Docs Stylish Oak out of Sarenas Playgirl has total lifetime earnings of more than $28,700, excluding her win in the Classic, in just two years of competition.

The mare carried previous owner Charles Spence to the 1999 Memphis Futurity and Classic Non-Pro title as well as the open finals of the NCHA Super Stakes. Additionally, Style O Bar is a past finalist of the Gold Coast Futurity and the Polo Ranch Cutting Classic.

Reserve Champion Haidas Jan is owned by Mr. And Mrs. W.H. Green, III of Albany, Texas. The mare, who is the 1999 Bonanza Cutting Champion, is a sire of Haidas Little Pep.

The Super Stakes and Super Stakes Classic is a highly prestigious event open only to foals of nominated stallions, featuring approximately 1000 cutting horses and riders competing for a total purse of more than $1.5 million. Bloodlines seen in the pedigrees of the cutting horses competing in the Super Stakes and Super Stakes Classic represent many of the industry's foundation horses as well as some of the top horses in cutting history.
