NCHA Super Stakes & Classic To Feature Top Horses & Riders
Fort Worth, Texas (February 24, 2000)- The National Cutting Horse Association will hold the 2000 Super Stakes and Super Stakes Classic April 1st - 16th at the Will Rogers Memorial Center in Fort Worth, Texas.
This highly prestigious event is open to foals of nominated stallions and will feature approximately 1000 cutting horses and riders competing for a total purse of more than $1.5 million during the shows two weeks of competition. Bloodlines seen in the pedigrees of the cutting horses competing in the Super Stakes and Super Stakes Classic represent many of the industry's foundation horses as well as some of the top horses in cutting history.
In its 20th year, the NCHA Super Stakes for 4-year-olds is one of the premier events on the cutting horse calendar, and is the second leg of the Great American Insurance Triple Challenge, which guarantees $1 million to any horse winning all three events of the challenge in the open division of competition. Spectators will want to keep their eyes on 1999 NCHA World Championship Futurity Open Champion Shania Cee, owned by Billy Cogdell of Tulia, Texas and ridden by top cutting horse trainer Shannon Hall. The only team eligible for the Great American Triple Challenge, the pair will try to advance one step closer to taking home cutting's most prestigious title and a cool $1 million.
The Super Stakes Classic will showcase some of the finest 5-year-old cutting horses in the world, including many horses and riders who have been finalists in some of cuttings most prestigious competitions.
A western gift show featuring art, tack, clothing and jewelry vendors from around the country including the Edward H. Bohlin, Co., Chevy Trucks, Sam's Club, John Deere, M.L. Leddy's, Cowboy Tack, Cinch Jeans, Texas Bank, KSCS, Star-Telegram, Radio Shack, Gist Silversmiths, ACCO Feeds, Professional's Choice, Cosequin, and Sooner Trailers, will be open daily in conjunction with the Super Stakes and Super Stakes Classic.
The National Cutting Horse Association was formed in 1946 by a group of cowboys and ranchers, who wanted to promote cutting competitions, standardize contest rules and preserve the cutting horse’s western heritage.
