2001 Super Stakes Finals Will Air On The Outdoor Life Network
Fort Worth, TX (May 23, 2001)—The National Cutting Horse Association is proud to announce the dates of Outdoor Life Network’s telecast of the 2001 NCHA Super Stakes. The finals of the Open and Non-Pro Cutting competitions will be featured in a one-hour telecast on Saturday, May 26 at 11 a.m. central time. The follow-up telecast will air again on Friday, June 1 at 12:00 noon, central time. Please consult your local cable guide for channel listings.
The NCHA Super Stakes competition had over 1200 entries competing for over $1.9 million in prize money. The broadcast will feature action of the Open Finals that was won by Matt Gaines from Weatherford, Texas on Sunettes Dually. Viewers will also get to watch Kevin Arnold, of Kermit, Texas take the championship in the Non-Pro Finals.
The National Cutting Horse Association was formed in 1946 by a group of cowboys and ranchers, who wanted to promote cutting competitions, have standardize rules and preserve the cutting horse's Western heritage. Today, the Fort Worth based NCHA represents more than 13,000 members in 22 countries and oversees. more than 1,400 NCHA-approved shows with more than $22 million in total prize money awarded annually.
The sport of Cutting has roots in Western ranching traditions, where good horses were a necessity for everyday ranch work and cattle handling. "Cutting" horses specialized in their ability to separate or "cut" one cow from a herd of others, for branding, doctoring or shipping.
