National Cutting Horse Association website
(nchacutting.com) tracks 1,000,000th visitor

Site provides vital industry information, news, standings, and more

(Fort Worth, TX)   The Fort Worth, Texas-based National Cutting Horse Association has been steadily increasing its membership and purse money in the last decade. In the latest advancement for the association, the NCHA logged its 1,000,000th visitor to their website, www.nchacutting.com, today.

NCHA has been tracking hits to its official website since 2002. Since that time, traffic has dramatically increased as the association has added more options and made more valuable information available to users.

For example, visitors to www.nchacutting.com have 24-hour access to information about horse earnings, rider earnings, show results, event calendars, membership, judges, the NCHA’s official publication “Cutting Horse Chatter,” payment schedules, historical information, standings, back issues of the e-newsletter, and much more.

Peak times for site overlap the dates of major limited age events in Fort Worth, which are produced by the association. During those shows, streaming video is available through the site so that cutting enthusiasts who are not able to make the trip to Fort Worth are still able to see the works of their favorite horses. During the 2002 Chevy Trucks/NCHA World Championship Futurity, for example, the site had 115,000 visitors.

NCHA Executive Director Jeff Hooper believes that providing 24-hour access to pertinent information is an important part of maintaining and growing the NCHA membership base.

“These days, information is vital to the success of any industry,” explains Hooper. “Our website gives us the ability to provide accurate, up-to-date, and relevant information to members and enthusiasts everywhere, any time. So whether you want to check your standings in the World race when you come in from a cutting at midnight, you are planning your weekend around cuttings in the area, or you want to research a horse’s earnings before you make a purchase, all you need to do is visit www.nchacutting.com.”

Meanwhile, the site has been increasingly valuable to the membership department, as well.

“The website has been a great asset for new and existing members,” explains NCHA Membership Coordinator Julie Davis. “With immediate access to membership, Amateur and Non-Pro applications and automatic credit card authorization, members can renew or join in minutes without having to complete and mail in hand-written forms. They can join at their convenience – day or night.

“We have approximately 1,300 members who renew annually online, plus an additional 1,000 new members in 2003 who joined online,” continued Davis. “Having these forms available online saves everyone time and money … and more people are using it every day!”

The National Cutting Horse Association is made up of 15,000 members across the United States with a wide range of backgrounds. The sport of cutting has roots in Western ranching traditions, where good horses were a necessity for everyday ranch work and cattle handling. From cowgirls to CEOs, from firefighters to professional football players, the common ground is often in the cutting arena. Each year more than 1,400 NCHA-approved events are held throughout the country with more than $28 million in prize money awarded.
