NCHA World Championship Futurity
FIRST DAY ACTION COMPLETE
FARON HIGHTOWER LEADS
ABOARD JUSTA SMART PEANUT
Fort Worth, Texas ---- The $2.8 million NCHA World Championship Futurity kicked off today at Will Rogers Coliseum in Fort Worth, Texas, with a few surprises and a lot of smiles. More than 1,500 cutting horses are entered in this year's 18-day event, which runs through Sunday, December 10. This years' Open Division winner receives $200,000.
After the first days round of action, Faron Hightower from Brenham, Texas rode away with the days high score, a 220.5 aboard Justa Smart Peanut. Justa Smart Peanut is owned by Dean Sanders of Anderson, Texas.
The NCHA World Championship Futurity, in its 39th year, is open to three-year-old cutting horses, and marks their competitive debut. Open Division first go-round competition continues through Monday, November 27, followed by amateur and non-pro go-round competition. The top horses compete in Finals performances beginning Thursday, December 7.
