Special event held in conjunction with NCHA World Championship Futurity in Fort Worth, Texas

Fort Worth, Texas --- Ever dreamed of starting your day with a great big chuck wagon breakfast and then cuttin' cattle all day?  This year during the National Cutting Horse Association Futurity in Fort Worth, Texas, you can do just that, or at least the next best thing. The Breakfast of Champions Cutting Seminar, to be held Thursday and Friday morning, December 7 and 8, and sponsored by Western Bloodstock, Ltd. Sales Company and Strawn Valley Ranch, features a hearty chuck wagon breakfast and a cutting seminar by legendary cutting horse icon Buster Welch.  The breakfast-seminar event will be held in the W.R. Watt arena on the grounds of the Will Rogers complex, in conjunction with the 2000 NCHA World Championship Futurity, November 23 through December 10.

The event benefits the National Youth Cutting Horse Association and Cutters In Action Charities, and each days breakfast and seminar is a prelude to the day's sale activities. Western Bloodstock's Preferred Performance Sale is slated for 10 a.m. on Thursday, December 7, and their Primetime Sale is set for 10 a.m. on Friday, December 8. The chuck wagon breakfast begins at 7 a.m. each day, followed by the seminar portion and a benefit auction. The seminar is structured as a two-day event, with Friday's agenda picking up where the Thursday program ended. Thursdays' auction will benefit the NYCHA, and Fridays' auction will benefit the NCHA-Cutters In Action Foundation with scholarship proceeds.

Billed as the "Breakfast of Champions - A cutting seminar featuring Buster Welch and Friends," the seminar portion includes comments, advice and training instruction from Welch along with other cutting industry notables Lindy Burch, Paul Hansma and Greg

Welch, all past NCHA Futurity Open Champions and respected professional trainers.

The legendary senior Welch, a full-time rancher from Rotan, Texas, is the only five-time

NCHA Futurity Champion, and a four-time NCHA World Champion. He is regarded as the "dean" of the cutting horse industry by most of its constituents, and is respected not only for his ability in training horses, but for his dedication to cutting and his vision for the development and growth of the sport.

The chuck wagon breakfast, catered by Joe Allen's of Abilene, Texas, will begin each day at 7 a.m., with the seminar portion slated to begin at 8 a.m. The seminar will be followed by the benefit auction, and then the sale event at 10 a.m. The breakfast and seminar is offered at no charge to NCHA members, however, donations to NYCHA are appreciated.

The two-day "Breakfast of Champions" event is sponsored by Western Bloodstock Ltd. Sales Company along with Strawn Valley Ranch. Western Bloodstock, Ltd. will offer a total of six days of cutting horse sales at the Will Rogers complex during the NCHA Futurity, in addition to NCHA's own Select Futurity Sale on December 9.

The sport of cutting stems from Western ranching traditions, where good horses were a necessity in everyday ranch work and cattle handling. "Cutting" horses specialized in their ability to separate or "cut" one cow from a herd of others for branding, doctoring or shipping. The National Cutting Horse Association was formed in 1946 by a group of cowboys and ranchers who wanted to promote cutting competition, standardize rules and preserve the cutting horses' western heritage. Today, the Fort Worth-based NCHA represents more than 12,000 members in 22 countries and oversees more than 1,400 NCHA-approved shows annually, with more than $22 million in total prize money.
