DJ Tracker takes the $10,000 Novice Horse division at

the Chevy Trucks / NCHA Eastern National Championship

 

Guy Woods and DJ Tracker scored an impressive 222.5 to take the title of the $10,000 Novice division during the Chevy Trucks / NCHA Eastern National Championship in Jackson, Mississippi.  DJ Tracker is owned by Bill J. and Jo Ellard of Dallas, Texas.  DJ Tracker and his trainer Woods outscored the nearest competitors by one and one-half points. The Co-Reserve Champions, each marking scores of 221, were Mucho Bad Boy and his trainer Jason Swayne of Ortonville, Michigan and Huggs Olena and trainer Robert Rust of New Ulm, Texas. Allen Crouch riding Bobs Catalyst and Gil Porter and his mount Miss Magic Molly round out the top-five finishers.

 

The Chevy Trucks / NCHA Eastern National Championship competition will continue daily beginning at 8:00 AM and culminate with the Non-Pro and Open Finals beginning at 8:00 AM on Saturday, March 24.  The competitors at this event have qualified to participate through the affiliates or regional cutting competition.  More that 900 entries will be vying for more that $90,000 in cash and prizes.

 

The NCHA Celebrity & Media Cutting is slated for 7:30 Friday night, March 23 at the Mississippi Fairgrounds and Expo Center.  Former Dallas Cowboy Jay Novacek, World Champion All-Around Cowboy Dave Appleton, Jackson Mayor Harvey Johnson, Jackson's Convention and Visitors Bureau Executive Director Wanda Wilson and MISS 103 Morning DJ Rick Adams will compete in a Pro-Am style competition.  A new John Deere LT 166 Lawn mower will be given away to one lucky fan in attendance after the competition.

 

During this year's event, a one-ton, crew-cab Chevy Duromax Diesel compliments of NCHA Title sponsor Chevy Trucks, will be given away to one of the lucky competitors during the "Taste of Mississippi" hosted by the Mississippi Department of Tourism.

 

Additionally, a drawing for the years-use of a three-horse gooseneck Sooner Trailer will highlight the annual Catfish Fry being held at the Trademart Building on the Mississippi State Fairgrounds.
