Jason Britt tops $25,000 Novice Non-Pro go-round

2017 NCHA Eastern National Championships – March 12, 2018 – Jackson, Miss.

Jason Britt, Seven Springs, N.C., topped the go-round in the $25,000 Novice Non-Pro division with 218.5 points on DMAC Hipster. Page Bowman, Simpsonville, Ky., placed second with 217.5 points on Sweet Autumn Boon, and Missy Jean Etheridge was third with 216 points on Light Of Grace. Twenty-nine riders with scores of 209 points or higher, from a field of 65 entries, qualified for Wednesday’s finals.

Jason Britt and 5-year-old DMAC Hipster LTE $25,375, by Hickorys Indian Pep, won the Congress Futurity Amateur Unlimited and placed in the finals of the 2018 Augusta Futurity 5/6 Classic Non-Pro. Britt was an NCHA Eastern Nationals finalist last year in the $50,000 Amateur riding Dontreynonmyparadesf. Mary Britt placed as this year’s NCHA Eastern Nationals $2,000 Limited Rider reserve champion on Dontreynonmyparadesf.

Page Bowman won last year’s NCHA Eastern Nationals $25,000 Novice Non-Pro on Tom E Boy, by Thomas E Hughes, and placed third with the gelding in the Non-Pro division, where she also was sixth on Big Daddys CD. Sweet Autumn Boon, a 5-year-old daughter of Boon Too Suen, carried Bowman this year to place fifth in the Augusta Futurity 5/6 Classic Non-Pro.

Missy Jean Etheridge, Corinth, Miss., won the 2004 NCHA Eastern Nationals $10,000 Amateur championship on Pepto Jack and was reserve champion in the 2010 Non-Pro division on Justa Lil Freck. She also won the 2009 NCHA Super Stakes Amateur on Fancy Sugar Badger. Nine-year-old Light Of Grace LTE $89,113, by CD Lights, carried Etheridge as 2013 NCHA Derby 4-Year-Old Non-Pro Limited reserve champion, as well as champion or finalist in 11 other limited age events.
