Make plans to attend the NCHA Summer Cutting Spectacular presented by Great American Insurance!

Plans are finalized for the 2006 NCHA Summer Cutting Spectacular event to be held in Fort Worth, Texas.

(Fort Worth, TX)—The excitement of cutting horse competition returns to the Will Rogers Memorial Coliseum July 11-30, 2006 with the National Cutting Horse Association Summer Cutting Spectacular.  The event, presented by Great American Insurance, lists over 1,480 entries vying for the 2.4 million in prize money.  The NCHA Summer Cutting Spectacular is the third leg of the prestigious Triple Crown of Cutting events held annually in Fort Worth.

Two horses to watch will be Highbrow Supercat, ridden by Tommy Marvin who won the 2005 NCHA World Championship Futurity Open Championship, and owned by Paul Dean, and the winner of the 2006 NCHA Super Stakes Open, Dual Smart Rey, ridden by Phil Rapp, and owned by the Strawn Valley Ranch.

The Great American Insurance Company sponsors this prestigious cutting horse event.  Each day the cutting begins at 8 a.m. with free admission to the public.  Admission cost will begin at $5 on July 29-30.  A complete daily schedule and list of classes are available on the NCHA website at http://www.nchacutting.com/.

The Western Mercantile presented by Coors Light will be open to the public from 9am to 6pm beginning on Thursday, July 13th, and will remain open throughout the remainder of the show.  The Western Mercantile will feature many exhibitors with Western clothing, tack, jewelry, art, and much more in the Amon G. Carter Exhibit Hall.

The sport of cutting has roots in Western ranching traditions, where good horses were a necessity for everyday ranch work and cattle handling.  The National Cutting Horse Association was formed in 1946 by a group of cowboys and ranchers who wanted to promote cutting competition, standardize rules, and preserve the cutting horses’ Western heritage.  Today, the Fort Worth-based NCHA represents over 16,000 people and oversees more than 2,200 NCHA-approved shows with more than $35 million in total prize money awarded annually.
