National Cutting Horse Association sponsor honors Veterans

First annual Veteran’s Day Special hosted by American Country Countdown’s Bob Kingsley

(Fort Worth, TX) — National Cutting Horse Association sponsor and radio great, Bob Kingsley, host of ABC Radio Networks syndicated show American Country Countdown, joined Secretary of Veterans Affairs R. James Nicholson on September 29, at the Veterans Affairs Headquarters in Washington, D.C. to announce the first annual Veterans Radio Outreach Special. The goal of the radio special and this first-of-its-kind media partnership, is to expand the Department of Veterans Affairs’ outreach to include America’s nearly 25 million veterans.

Kingsley will host the first annual Veterans Day Special on November 11, 2005 on various stations throughout the country. The two hour special will air commercial free, and will include songs from country music’s biggest artists including Brooks & Dunn, Toby Keith, Martina McBride, Faith Hill, Lonestar, and Montgomery Gentry among others. The broadcast will combine stories and songs to celebrate the achievements and sacrifices of the many members of America’s dedicated military. The Secretary of Veterans Affairs will join Kingsley and will discuss special information important to both veterans and their families.

Kingsley began his radio experience years ago while stationed in Iceland, during his service in the Air Force. Following his time in the Air Force, Kingsley continued to advance his radio career by working for various radio stations across the west. He was eventually chosen to produce and subsequently host a new radio program called “The American Country Countdown.” The success of the show is unparalleled. Broadcast on more than 1,000 radio stations and reaching millions of listeners across the country, The American Country Countdown is now the number one national music show in any format.

As representative for the American Country Countdown, Kingsley is much more than a NCHA sponsor. Bob and his wife, Nan, are an integral part of the cutting horse community. This year Kingsley and his youth team took top honors with the highest cumulative score at the 2005 Sponsor’s Cutting Competition at the NCHA Summer Cutting Spectacular. The Kingsley’s also own and operate Blue Stem Ranch, out of Weatherford, Texas, which breeds champion cutting horses out of their top-placing stallion, Its Just About Me.

The National Cutting Horse Association is made up of 16,000 members across the United States with a wide range of backgrounds. The sport of cutting has roots in Western ranching traditions, where good horses were a necessity for everyday ranch work and cattle handling. From cowgirls to CEOs, from firefighters to professional football players, the common ground is often in the cutting arena. Each year more than 2,200 NCHA-approved events are held throughout the country with more than $35 million in prize money awarded.
