(Fort Worth, TX)—The first
phase of the National Youth Cutting Horse Association Stallion Service Program
has been completed with tremendous success.
On the first day of the auction, bidders purchased 54 breedings for
$78,000.
In 2005, stallion owners donated
138 breedings to benefit NYCHA scholarships, awards, and programs. Youth Coordinator, Danette McGuire, hopes to
raise $120,000 this year through the Stallion Service Program.
“The NYCHA is very happy
with the success of this year’s auction,” said McGuire. “The program continues to grow thanks to the
great support of our stallion owners.”
The remaining breedings will
be sold on a first-come, first-serve basis for 60 percent of the listed
breeding fee. Remaining breedings will
be offered until sold or the program ends on June 1. In the initial phase of the auction, bidders submitted sealed
bids for a particular listed stallion.
The bid must have been at least 50 percent of the advertised breeding
fee to be considered. The bids were
opened on February 1st and breedings were awarded to the highest
bidder.
A complete list of the
remaining breedings is available on the NCHA website at www.nchacutting.com or by contacting
Danette McGuire, Youth Coordinator, at 817-244-6188.
Youth have been competing on
cutting horses probably as long as there have been competitions. In 1993, the National Youth Cutting Horse
Association was formed to offer youth members the opportunity to develop both their
horsemanship and their leadership skills.
The NYCHA also awards more than $175,000 annually in college
scholarships to reward members for their cutting accomplishments and leadership
in the organization.
