Cutting and Rodeo
We're broadening our horizons! The NCHA has teamed up with the Mesquite Championship Rodeo to
present "NCHA Night at the Rodeo," on September 15. Four live cutting
demonstrations will be presented during the rodeo, which starts at 8 p.m. at the
Resistol Arena in Mesquite, Texas. The rodeo and cutting will also be televised
on TNN on September 17 at 7:30 p.m. CST. If you can't make it to the rodeo, be
sure to watch the broadcast.
"You be the Judge" Seminar
The Region 4-sponsored
Judge's Seminar scheduled for
October 5 from 5-8 p.m. at the Ohio State Fair Grounds will be a great opportunity
for NCHA-approved judges, as well as other cutters and horse enthusiasts, to get
a better understanding of NCHA rules.
Editorial deadline for show secretaries
Show secretaries should take a few minutes to make sure
their information will be included in the 2002 NCHA Travel Planner! The
publishing deadline for your Limited Age Event schedule to appear in the popular
month-to-month calendar booklet is September 30. E-mail your information
to Shawn McCoy.

Stallions for Youth
The 2002 NYCHA Stallion Service
program is rolling. As of Wednesday morning, 23 stallion owners have generously
donated a breeding to their stallions to support the youth members. The Stallion
Service Program is the primary fundraiser for the NYCHA, with
100% of the money from the winning bids being used to support the youth scholarships, postage for the youth newsletters, youth awards, and various youth activities. Find out how to donate a breeding (Note: To view the Donate a Breeding you will need Adobe Acrobat Reader.) or how to Bid.
Sponsors Saddle Up
Every year, the NCHA shows its thanks to corporate sponsors with a sponsors' seminar and
cutting. This year's seminar will be held September 27-28 at Silverado on the
Brazos in Weatherford, Texas.
Trainer's Party at Futurity
Mark your calendars for what promises to be a great
NCHA Futurity party. On December 8 at 6 p.m., the Professional Trainers will host
a get-together at the Round-Up Inn. The winner of the first Zane Schulte Trainer
of the Year award will be presented during the festivities, which will also
honor the new NCHA Hall of Fame Inductees. There will be plenty of free food and
hospitality, along with a cash bar, for all NCHA members and their
families.
NCHA Select Two-Year-Old Sale
Entries are due October 1 for the NCHA Select Two-Year-Old Sale,
to be held Saturday, December 15 at W.R. Watt Arena. All consigned horses will
be screened November 23-24 at the John Justin Arena, and the top 75 horses will
be sold in the NCHA Select Futurity Sale. Horses not accepted for the NCHA
Select Futurity Sale will be eligible for the Western Bloodstock Ltd. sale.
Consignment forms for the NCHA Select Two-Year-Old Sale can be found in the
September issue of the Cutting Horse Chatter on page 208.
$100,000 for Youth Scholarships
Increased scholarship opportunities will soon be
available for eligible NYCHA members. Up to twenty $5,000 scholarships will be
awarded based on youth participation and accomplishments for the 2001 point
year. Eligibility requirements will appear on the NCHA web site soon while
applications will be available January 2002.

HorseTV will air last year's NCHA 2000 Cutting Horse Derby highlights
on Wednesday, September 12 at 10:00 p.m. EST.
Meanwhile, " GMC America's Horse" has moved to ESPN2 and airs Mondays, 1 p.m. EST with repeats each week on ESPN Classic, Wednesday, 6 p.m. and Thursdays, 5:30 p.m. EST.
