SUMMER CUTTING SPECTACULAR DRAW IS AVAILABLE
The first day and first round of the NCHA Summer Cutting Spectacular Classic/Challenge Open competition will be a crowd-pleaser with cutting legends, Bill Freeman and Matlock Rose riding. Also in the bunch is Dainty Playgirl, the 1998 NCHA Futurity Champion, ridden by Ronnie Rice.

The draw for the NCHA Summer Cutting Spectacular in Fort Worth is on the web and the show runs July 10-29, and stalls will be available July 9. Highlights of the show include the Sean Ryon Eastern/Western Shootout on July 17, the NCHA Sponsors Cutting on July 27, and the Sooner Trailer Workoff on July 28. Catch the excitement of Derby Non-Pro and Open Finals beginning at 3 p.m. on Sunday, July 29.


TOP 15 LEADERS SETTING HOT PACE
If you want to catch World Championship Open leader Rosies Lena and Robert Rust of New Ulm, Texas, with $30,267, fill up your gas tank and follow them as they travel from Weatherford, Texas, for the July 7-8 Brazos Valley Cutting, north to the Calgary Stampede, July 12-15, and straight back to Texas for the Sean Ryon Eastern/Western Shootout at the NCHA Summer Cutting Spectacular, July 17, before they head for five days of cutting in Batesville, Mississippi for the North Mississippi Summer Shows. Whew!!

Tim May of Saltillo, Mississippi, on Hey Little Jude is nearly $5000 behind second-placed Jim Milner in the Non-Pro race, while defending champion, Mary Jo Milner, continues to smoke the competition with a $19,000 lead. May's schedule keeps him close to home with the Mississippi Summer Cuttings, July 6-8, in Jackson, MS, then to Fort Worth, Texas, for the Sean Ryon Eastern/Western Shootout and two aged event entries in the NCHA Summer Cutting Spectacular, July 10-29.You can see the latest World standings


NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL FINALS RODEO
NCHA youth cutting careers are often supplemented with National High School Rodeo Association competitions. Head to the Illinois State Fairgrounds in Springfield, July 23 to catch the first of the youth cutting classes at the NHSRA Finals. There will be two shows daily with the Cutting Contest Finals held beginning 8 a.m., July 29.


HAPPY 40TH BIRTHDAY, AFFILIATES!
What's unique about the Arizona Cutting Horse Association?  It is the oldest NCHA affiliate with a continuous membership.  The group came aboard in 1960 with 100+ members. Today, nearly 300 members keep the Arizona CHA active.

Nearly as old as Arizona CHA are these NCHA groups which are celebrating their 40th year as NCHA Affiliate members: Alamo Quarter Horse Breeders, Ark-La-Tex CHA, Ark-Mo-Tn CHA, Canadian CHA, Central Texas CHA, East Coast CHA,Eastern Missouri CHA, Illinois CHA, Las Vegas CHA, Lone Star CHA, Louisiana CHA, Minnesota CHA, Mississippi CHA,Montana CHA, North Dakota CHA, North Texas CHA, Northern Illinois CHA, Oklahoma CHA, Oregon CHA, Panhandle CHA, Utah CHA,West Central Texas CHA, Western Oklahoma CHA.

Today, the Pacific Coast CHA is the largest affiliate with over 1,200 members.

Our newest affiliate is the Southeast CHA based in Geneva, AL.

Congratulations to our NCHA Affiliate of the Year, Lone Star Cutting Horse Association, named June 9 at the NCHA Convention in Fort Worth, Texas. The affiliate was presented with a check for $2,500 by outgoing NCHA president, Jim Milner.


LOOKING AHEAD
Plan a weekend in Weatherford, Texas, with Brazos Valley Cutters at Silverado Arena, for a $2,000-added Open and Non-Pro cutting on July 7 & 8. Show begins 1 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. Sunday. NOTE: The LAE cutting planned for July 6 & 7 at Silverado Arena has been cancelled .

The $105,000-added limited age event, Brazos Bash, will be held at Silverado Arena in Weatherford, Texas, September 14-22. It moved from its original date to accommodate the West Texas Futurity, September 25-30, at the Tri-State Fairgrounds in Amarillo, TX.

California will have its share of competitors at the MEC Summer Circuit in Rancho Murieta, July 6-8. Weekend cutters can expect $500-added to Open, Non-Pro, $50K Amateur, Novice and Novice/Non-Pro classes.

In Wappingers Fall, New York, July 7 & 8, the Northeast CHA hosts a weekend cutting with $500-added to its Open and Non-Pro classes, with $300 added to $50K Amateur, $10K Novice and Novice/Non-Pro, and $100 added to the $3K Novice.

Expect to have a big time in Calgary, Alberta, Canada during the 2001 Calgary Stampede, July 12-15. Plenty of competitors from across the U.S. and Canada and plenty of money added....$6000 to Open and Non-Pro. Jackpot youth class, too.

Strait Rail Ranch in Nevis, Minnesota hosts their first cutting July 14-15. Pete & Anne Lewis of Elk River promise competitive cutting in beautiful lake country surroundings, ten minutes from Paul Bunyan State Park. Open and Non-Pro $500-added. Amateur and Novice $200-added. Prizes for youth and BBQ on Saturday.
