Big Purse Increases in Place for National Championships
The Wayne Hodges Trailer Sales/Outlaw Conversions NCHA Eastern and Western National Championships will carry $12,000 in added money per class (excluding Youth classes) this spring. That is an increase from the $10,000 added per class in previous years.
The increased added money lays the foundation for the biggest shows ever. Along with new payout formulas in place at the 2005 shows, weekend cutters stand to collect some healthy checks at the shows in Jackson, Mississippi, and Ogden, Utah.
If entry numbers this spring hold steady with last year’s shows, prize money awarded at the Eastern National Championships will be $99,940 more than last year. The Western National Championships will pay out $84,895 more than last year, based on similar entry numbers.
The Wayne Hodges Trailer Sales/Outlaw Conversions NCHA Eastern National Championships are scheduled for March 7-19 in Jackson, while the Western show will be held April 28-May 8 in Ogden.
The deadline for entries for the Eastern show is February 10, and for the Western show, it's April 5.
Youth Team Cutting Scheduled for Eastern National Championships
The ever popular, youth team cutting will once again be held at the Eastern National Championships in Jackson, Mississippi on Friday, March 11, 2005. The contest requires a team of four youth cutters to dress up in their most creative costumes. All four team members’ cutting scores are combined with prizes awarded to the highest team score and best-dressed team. Lots of fun and prizes for everyone but space is limited so get your entry in early. Fax your entry form to (817) 560-2288 or email Danette McGuire.

NYCHA Stallion Service Program
The National Youth Cutting Horse Association’s largest fundraiser of the year, the 2005 NYCHA Stallion Service Program, is well under way. To date, we have more than 100 great stallions offered. All breedings are donated to the program so 100% of the money bid goes directly to the youth program to support scholarships, awards and activities. To participate, mare owners must bid at least 50% of the listed breeding fee. Mare owners should contact the breeding facility to determine any additional costs such as chute fee and mare care. Bids are due in the NCHA office by noon (central time) on February 1, 2005. A complete list of available breedings and the bid form is available at the NCHA website as well as the Cutting Horse Chatter. For more information, please contact Danette McGuire, NCHA Youth Coordinator.
